Food Trickles

Food is always an endearing enchantment!!! I feel food does that to many of us. Food for me, has always been a symbol of hope, best when shared, brings friends and family together, creates laughter and bonding over the dinner table. It is a basic magical prerequisite for our existence and more magic would always mean a more loving lasting happy effect. Food Trickles is more on the food encounters I have had in the past, having in the present and would have in the future and people I love and admire adding on value to it.

Follow the food trickles to know more of it ….

Makar Sankranti Special

Wondering how do I start this page, what better than to start with the food picture from a festivity day, the day called Makar Sankranti. Makar Sankranti or Uttarayan or Maghi or simply Sankranti, is a festival day in the Hindu calendar, dedicated to the deity Surya (sun). The platter has 5 dishes in it, starting with the day special (clockwise) Sweet Pongal, Tomato based chutney, Avarekalu rotti (Google tells me Avarekalu is called Hyacinth Bean in English), cucumber carrot salad called kosambari in local language and the onion pakora.

Coffee Always

Between me and Coffee, there can only be pakoras. Coffee makes the tough things look easier. Research says the original domesticated coffee plant is said to have been from Harar, Ethiopia. I have always felt its one of the best thing world could have – true for all the coffee drinkers.

The Home-made

I could survive many days just on bread. The aroma when I baked the bread at home was soothing my soul. What more, dip it in a coffee or spread some butter or make a sandwich, it is very accommodative.

Green is giving

Green leaves are always giving – discovering the Patrode delicacy. The Patrode is made from colocasia leaves stuffed with rice flour and flavorings such as spices, tamarind, and jaggery (raw sugar).

The passion and love is seen in those eyes. My favorite eating our favorite. The chocolate cake with a rush of chocolate syrup on it. Isn’t the pic just adorable. (Cake credits – my sis-in-law Rashmi)
